Sydni Sterling and I have been participating in the Art in the Wood Studio Tour since it’s inception.  This show brings out art lovers from all over the state, and sometimes from out of state – friends getting together to seriously pursue local art while having fun together.  We hope you’ll come by Studio #4 to see our new work, and perhaps have lunch at the Indianola Store, or at the Borrowed Kitchen Bakery And Farmhouse Cafe in Kingston.  Other Indianola artists on the tour this year are well worth the adventure to get to their wonderful studios in the woods.  Really, in the woods!  Just follow the signs to see Leslie Newman’s and Tim Celeski’s innovative works in Studio #6, and Meredith Chernick’s Fine pottery at Studio #5.

About Melinda

Forty years ago, while sitting on the beach playing with my young children, I made my first basket out of a pile of willow trimmings someone had tossed there. It looked wildly made like a crazy bird’s nest. While being together with my two sons on a beautiful Pacific Northwest shoreline, this simple experience of crafting with the natural materials at hand kindled a passion for creating forms using plant fibers. I thank my family, my community, and all my teachers for cultivating this gift in me.
