This Harvest Basket is a Pacific Northwest version of a traditional ribbed gathering basket. In our little organic garden, I’m still using one of the first Harvest Baskets I made over 25 years ago, on a daily basis. I’ve refurbished it once, and it will likely last another 25 years. In this class students learn how to select and transform plant materials from Pacific Northwest landscapes and gardens, into beautiful, functional baskets. For this traditional ribbed construction method, the renewable resources of pruned tree and shrub branches are used to form the framework. For the weaving materials, learn to utilize an assortment of Northwest barks, vines, leaves, grasses. and roots. Whether for use in the garden, for storage, or for home decor, this basket brings the warmth and wonder of nature right into your living space.
