Sterling Studio Art Sale 2015

August 2, 2015 By Melinda

Twice a year Sydni Sterling opens up her lovely self-built painting studio for an art sale. Each summer, 11 to 4, on the Friday and Saturday of Indianola Days, which is a community festival scheduled on one of the lowest tides in late July or early August, Sydni fills her courtyard garden and studio with her beautiful acrylic paintings.

It is my good fortune to be invited to exhibit my work at Sydni’s twice each year. Once, at this annual summer sale; and again, each November for the Art In The Woods studio tour which is sponsored by the Cultural Arts Foundation NW. This year Art in the Woods will be 10-5 on November 6, 7, and 8. This is a tour of many Kitsap County Studios hosting over fifty artists working in various mediums. One of the highlights of this tour besides being able to purchase original new work, is that the artists are present to answer questions and share insights about their processes.

Sydni and I enjoyed getting to visit with everyone who stopped by this weekend. Thank you for your encouragement and for supporting our work. It was hot and bright, so I wasn’t able to take many pictures, but here are a few.

Please come visit us again this November 6, 7, or 8, for the 2015 Art in the Woods Studio Tour!

About Melinda

Forty years ago, while sitting on the beach playing with my young children, I made my first basket out of a pile of willow trimmings someone had tossed there. It looked wildly made like a crazy bird’s nest. While being together with my two sons on a beautiful Pacific Northwest shoreline, this simple experience of crafting with the natural materials at hand kindled a passion for creating forms using plant fibers. I thank my family, my community, and all my teachers for cultivating this gift in me.
