Learn to make a “Wild Twined Herb and Flower Basket” using the weedy-vine English ivy as the primary structural material. The tenacious qualities of this plant make it a great weaving material, and the trees in the forest will thank you for any ivy you remove! All materials will be provided including a sampling of limbs to remove bark from; stems of aromatic herbs, lavender and everlasting flowers to incorporate into the weaving; vines; and grass/leaves to use in the technique of cordage making. Students will learn how to identify, gather, prepare, and utilize a sampling of plant fiber materials available in Pacific Northwest gardens and landscapes during the summer season. All levels of experience welcome.
A $25 materials fee with enough materials for two baskets is payable to the instructor at class.
